How we handle your data, in plain English - what we collect, why, and what we never do with it.
Who we are
Simply Elegant Weddings & Events, trading as Simply Elegant Hire ("we"), hires and styles wedding and event décor across South Wales from Kings Head Road, Gendros, Swansea SA5 8DA. For data protection purposes we are the data controller for this website. You can reach us about anything on this page at info@simplyeleganthire.co.uk.
What we collect, and why
Enquiry form. When you make an enquiry we collect your name, email address and message, plus - if you choose to give them - your phone number, the type of occasion, its date, the venue and a rough guest count. We use these solely to respond to your enquiry and prepare your quote (our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract). Enquiries are stored in our own database on this site's server and are not shared with anyone else, sold, or used for marketing.
Visitor statistics. We count page views using our own software on our own server - no Google Analytics, no third parties. The counter stores the page visited, the referring site, and an anonymised code that cannot be traced back to you and changes every day, so we cannot follow you between visits. It stores nothing on your device.
Phone, email and showroom visits. If you call, email or visit us, we'll hold that correspondence for as long as it takes to deal with your event and our normal business record-keeping.
Cookies
When you first visit we ask which cookies you're happy with. Your choice is kept in a cookie for 12 months, and you can change it any time using "Cookie settings" in the footer. There are three categories:
- Essential - always on; the site cannot work safely without them (listed below).
- Analytics - optional. Our own visitor statistics are cookie-free (see above), so nothing is set in this category today; it covers any analytics cookies we may add later.
- Marketing - optional. Set only by embedded third-party content such as Facebook or Instagram, if we include it. We don't currently.

We don't use your browser's local storage for anything.
We currently use no advertising, tracking or social-media cookies, and no third-party analytics - so rejecting the optional categories changes nothing today. The link to the Simply Elegant Retail shop opens that site in a new tab; its own privacy policy applies there. If we add embedded content or analytics, it will only load for visitors who have opted in.
How long we keep enquiry data
Enquiries are kept while we handle your event and for up to two years afterwards (so we can pick things up quickly if you come back to us), then deleted. You can ask us to delete yours sooner at any time.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Email info@simplyeleganthire.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this page
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and, where the change is significant, show the site notice again.
